Once students have completed their warm-ups, they will go on to discuss/take notes on the R.A.C.E. method of answering multiple choice questions. From there, they will be given a piece on financial literacy and will be asked to read the selection and determine the correct answers using the new method.
When students have completed their selection and we have gone over it as a class, their next step will be to access the ReadTheory.org website and take the pretest/work on quizzes. The site determines a student's reading level and works with them to help push that level to the appropriate one.
After working with Read Theory for a bit, students will then go on to begin working on their final drafts of the persuasive essay. Students who turned in their rough drafts received comments on their papers and will be able to use those comments to help them edit for the final drafts. There is also a series of videos on EDpuzzle that students will be required to watch that discuss the most common mistakes in the essays.
HW: Final draft is due Friday before the end of the class period.
