As students come into the classroom, they have been given a grammar warm-up to complete (pictured below). After warm-ups, students in 1st period will go on to work on the EPCOT selection while students in 3rd/4th will finish up their double bubble map comparisons from yesterday. Once they have received a few minutes to complete those, they too will go on to the EPCOT selection.
EPCOT- Working as a class, students will determine which Thinking Maps should be used in order to correctly answer 5 multiple choice questions following a short reading passage. They will then use the SmartBoard in front of the room to walk each other through how to correctly set up/fill out the maps. While students demonstrate on the board, all others will be copying the maps onto their own individual papers. Finally, students will answer the questions based on the information put into each map.
Once all students have finished the EPCOT selection, we will move on to read the poem "Elephant-Hunter Take Your Bow!" from the literature book. As we read, we will identify words we do not know, lines that "jump" out at us, and spend a few moments discussing questions pertaining to the selection.
