When students have completed their warm-ups, they will go on to publish their Digital Portfolios. They will give their site names "First Name Last Initial" (ex: Ryann M) so that they are easily identifiable.
After all portfolios have been published, students will go on to get into small groups. Each group will be assigned a character type. They will research that character and edit a slide in a class wide Google presentation that informs others about that character type. They will define the type as well as give an example and explain how to identify it in literature.
Next, students will present their group's slides to members of the other groups and take notes on the different character types.
Finally, students in 1st and 4th will continue reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and identify the characters and their types that we've seen thus far. Students in 3rd period will do the same with the selection "The Night of the Festival."
