English I - 1st/3rd
Students will continue working on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech from the day before. Once they have finished analyzing the text, they will complete a Figurative Language Scavenger Hunt. For this activity, they will walk around the room and have students fill out a series of boxes that either identify the type of figurative language being used, define the figurative language, or create their own examples. While students cannot write on their own papers, they CAN mark out/erase the answers from others they feel are incorrect and have someone else complete the box. At the end of the activity, students will be able to make corrections as they see fit. They will then turn in the paper and, as a class, we will begin reading "For My People" by Margaret Walker. As we read, students will identify any figurative language being used as well as who the poem is for.
English I Honors - 3rd
Students will continue working on their Zombie Apocalypse activities.
