As students enter the classroom, they will create a 5-10 song playlist in which they identify songs that they feel define them. They will also offer up a 2-3 sentence explanation per song to say why/how that song defines them.
1st/4th Period: After the warm-up, students will complete their "Saving Sam" activity from the day before. Once that is completed, they will go on to read the poem "Pretty Good" by Charles Osgood. As they read, they will annotate the sections that stand out to them or that they question. We will then discuss these as a class. From there, students will answer a series of questions about the poem as well as identify difficult words in the poems and why they author chose to use them. Time permitting, students in 4th period will move on to be introduced to EDpuzzle.
3rd Period: Having finished the warm-up, students will start with the "Pretty Good" poem by Charles Osgood and move into the discussion/questions. Once they are done, they will be introduced to EDpuzzle through Google Classroom and asked to watch a series of videos about digital citizenship. Finally, they will play a Kahoot! game that introduces them to some of the vocabulary that will be used over the course of the class.
