English II - 1st Period
English II students focus on a variety of world literature over the course of the semester. In order to better engage students, they will have the opportunity to select which region of the world they "visit" and read from first. Each students will be able to select from 1 of the following regions for their first "Stop" in the English II classroom: Africa, Asia, Central America, Middle East, Russia, or South America. Today students will spend time doing a bit of research about their region us the AirPanos Slides found in the Week 5 Canvas Module. The WebEx room will be open for any questions they may have. They will also have time to work on their 1st set of vocabulary words due Friday.
English III - 2nd and 4th Period
English III students read a variety of literature from American authors over the course of the semester. These authors have been lumped into units in which the texts follow similar themes/ideas. Students will be allowed to select which texts they read from a variety of texts given to them. This week, students will be starting their "You've Got to Fight for Your Rights" unit. To get them in the mindset of the theme, today students will create a short video in which they explain: what their definition of freedom is; what their definition of rights are; and at least 1 or more rights they feel everyone should have. Once they have completed their video, they will be given 3 selections to choose from that all revolve around freedom/rights in some way. They will read 1 selection that will become their focus for the work this week and then spend time working on their Vocabulary Set 1 due Friday.
