Students will be given 5 minutes to complete their daily warm-up before moving on to the day's work. Those students absent the day before will be asked to complete their SMA 1 before moving on to the work in Google Classroom.
All other students will go to the Google Classroom where they will find a link to our ThingLink. The ThingLink provides students with a picture that houses links to various videos and selections. The two videos discuss the history of Afghanistan as well as women's treatment in Afghanistan. The first selection is a poem from which the title of our class novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, is based. The second selection is a short biographical piece about the novel's author. Students will be asked to analyze all links and then make predictions about the upcoming novel. They will be able to choose 1 of 6 methods (playdoh sculpture, original poem, mock interview, pantomime, song, or original drawing) to present their predictions via FlipGrid to the class.
Finally, any students who complete the ThingLink activities before the end of class will be asked to use the attached Google Doc to analyze 5 different infographics and identify information they learn from each.
HW: Watch EDpuzzle video before class Wednesday.
