Students in 1st period will begin the class by working on Quill.org for 15 minutes. Once that time is up, they will be given 20 minutes to update their digital writing portfolio. On their portfolio, they will create a blog post that discusses their initial reactions to the novel as well as cultural points they have noted throughout that are different from those of their own. We will then end the class by discussing the reading from the previous night.
Students in 3rd and 4th will work with their Book Buddies to read their NewsELA article and answer questions using the R.A.C.E. method. Once they are done, they will update their writing portfolios with the same questions that 1st period used. Finally, they will complete activities on Quill.org.
HW: By Monday, students in 1st period should have read: Ch. 15-16 (up to pg 102); Ch. 18; and Ch. 23. Students in 3rd/4th need to read chapters 4-6 (audio version available in EdPuzzle). Vocabulary set 3 is also due on Monday.
